Elevate your career and earn dental infection control certification
The Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) and the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) are pleased to announce the launch of the pretest event for two new certifications:
- OSAP-DANB Certified in Dental Infection Prevention and Control™ (CDIPC™)
- OSAP-DANB Dental Industry Specialist in Infection Prevention and Control™ (DISIPC™)
The pretest event is a key step in developing a new certification exam, allowing DANB to ensure that exam items are performing as expected, the pass points are appropriate, and the application processing protocols work smoothly before offering the CDIPC and DISIPC certification programs to exam candidates.
CDIPC and DISIPC Eligibility Pathways
There are several pathways to earn CDIPC and DISIPC certifications. Completing the three-step OSAP-DALE Foundation Dental Infection Prevention and Control Certificate ProgramTM is a requirement to take the DISIPC exam and one of a number of education options to take the CDIPC exam. To learn more, download the fliers and candidate handbook.
Starting in June, DANB will begin accepting applications for the pretest event. Candidates who are approved to participate must take the exam within 60 days of receiving the exam authorization email.
The pretest event is an opportunity for a limited number of eligible candidates to take either the CDIPC or DISIPC exam for a non-refundable fee of $75. When CDIPC and DISIPC certification programs launch in 2022, the fee for each exam will be $450.
The first 200 candidates to apply for each exam and who meet the exam eligibility requirements will be approved to take either the CDIPC or DISIPC exam during the pretest event. Candidates may only apply for one of the exams.
Candidates who participate in the pretest event will wait until December to receive their exam results while the exam pass point is evaluated by testing experts and verified by the DANB Board of Directors. Exam result notifications will be mailed no later than December 31, 2021. Candidates who pass the exam will also be awarded the appropriate CDIPC or DISIPC certification marks at that time.
